Titanium Dioxide
Natural titanium minerals contain varying levels of titanium dioxide (TiO₂) and iron oxide (FeO₂). Ilmenite is the most abundant titanium mineral, with a TiO₂ content ranging from 45-65%. Weathered or secondary ilmenite, known as leucoxene, has a higher TiO₂ content, typically ranging from 65-90%. Rutile is the highest-grade natural titanium mineral, with a TiO₂ content exceeding 95%.
Ilmenite and leucoxene are refined to produce pure TiO₂ pigment, which is primarily used in the production of paints, paper, food additives, sunscreens, toothpaste, and many other products. Rutile, on the other hand, is used in the production of welding rods and titanium metal. In its metal form, titanium is widely utilized in aerospace, automotive, electronics, and medical devices due to its strength, lightweight properties, and corrosion resistance.
NATURAL RUTILE
Natural rutile is a naturally occurring very high-grade titanium dioxide feedstock (TiO2 content of 92-96%). Titanium dioxide is a dark coloured mineral which, with further processing, becomes a white, opaque powder. YFD’s natural rutile is produced from our Sierra Leone operations and is sold for end use in pigment, welding and many applications. Our current Rutile 95% producing capacity 36,000 mt annualy and we are plan to increase in year 2025 annualy 60,000 Mt Rutile 95% Delete annualy write it as annually.

ILMENITE
Discover the many uses of Titanium Dioxide in everyday products which includes the prevention of skin cancer.
Chloride ilmenite is a naturally occurring titanium dioxide feedstock with TiO2 content of 58-62%. YFD’s Ilmenite can be sold directly to pigment and other customers or is used as a
feedstock for synthetic rutile production.
