Community Engagement & Public Welfare
Conducted by FOISON Resources Sierra Leone Limited, a subsidiary of YFD. At FOISON, we believe responsible growth includes uplifting the communities we work with. Our initiatives span across education, health, infrastructure, and employee well-being, each reflecting our commitment to sustainability and positive impact in Sierra Leone.
1.Education & Youth Development
On 16th April 2025: Construction began on two new classrooms at Saint Peters Secondary School, Bauya, reinforcing its commitment to improving educational infrastructure and access to quality learning environments.
On 2 March 2025: Launched a monthly stipend of NLE 1000 for community teachers in Semabu to support local education and recognise the vital role of grassroots educators.
Donated 5,000 Liberian dollars to Sogbini Junior Secondary School to support their joint sports and athletics competition.
2.Infrastructure Development
On 10th April 2025, Completed the construction of 10 boreholes in Taninihun Mboka, Moyamba District, significantly improving access to clean and safe drinking water for the
local community.
On 27th April 2025, Constructed a court barray in Tihun Village, Sogbini Chiefdom, Moyamba District, providing a dedicated space for community gatherings, legal
proceedings, and local governance.
On 4th June 2024, Conducted a computer training session for technical staff at the Freetown Hill Station Head Office, aimed at enhancing digital skills and operational efficiency.
3.Government Engagement and Compliance
A team from the Ministry of Labour conducted an impromptu site inspection, focusing on:
- Employee salaries and wages
- Health and safety standards
- Resident permits for Chinese employees
- Updates on new labour laws and policies
The officials commended our operations, recognising our strong compliance and high
standards in workforce management.
4.Employee Development & Welfare

We conducted training and induction sessions for security and kitchen staff. These sessions covered:
- Company policies and expectations
- Operational procedures
- Interactive Q&A sessions to encourage dialogue
This ensures all team members are aligned with YFD’s ethical and operational standards.

A formal induction ceremony welcomed new team members, preparing them to contribute to our shared goals.
Employee Appreciation and Motivation:
Red Envelopes were distributed as tokens of appreciation to all employees.

5.Health & Community Welfare
On 22nd March 2025, donated essential food supplies to the Muslim community in Semabu as part of Zakat during the holy month of Ramadan, demonstrating solidarity and support for religious and cultural values.
On 27th July 2024, Launched a monthly stipend program, offering NLE 1000 to pregnant mothers in Semabu as part of its commitment to maternal health and community welfare.
On 27th July 2024, Donated NLE 1000 on a quarterly basis to elderly residents in Semabu, reaffirming its commitment to the care and well-being of senior citizens in the community.
6.Sports & Team Engagement
On 21st October 2023, it organised a friendly football match between its staff and a Turkish company in Sogbini Chiefdom, promoting cultural exchange, teamwork, and community engagement through sports.
7.Corporate Milestones
On 27th April 2024, The Country Director, General Manager, and Deputy General Manager of FOISON Resources Sierra Leone Limited paid a courtesy visit to the Paramount Chief of Bauya, located in Kombora Chiefdom, Moyamba District, to strengthen ties and foster mutual collaboration with traditional leadership.
On 27th April 2024, FOISON MINERAL Sierra Leone Limited, a large-scale mineral sand mining project located in Bauya, Kombora Chiefdom, Moyamba District, will mark a significant milestone in the company’s expansion and contribution to the mining sector.
